It’s been raining airdrops since this year (2023).

And yet still, more airdrops are coming up.

Today, you will learn of the L2 blockchain airdrops and how to best position yourself for them.

Let’s dive in.

5 L2 Blockchains With Airdrop Potentials

These 5 Layer 2 blockchains are ripe for airdrop and the potential is huge.

They include:

i. zkSync

The first is zkSync, a zero-knowledge roll-up.

This means that it uses cryptography to verify transactions without having to publish all of the transaction data to the Ethereum mainnet.

This makes zkSync much more scalable and efficient than traditional Ethereum transactions.

The zkSync team has said that they plan to airdrop tokens to early users of the network.

To maximize your chances here, you might want to consider adding the zkSync network to your wallet.

You can also do the following:

• bridge to zkSync using Orbiter
• provide liquidity to Maverick’s USDC-LUSD pool in ‘Mode Both,’ and
• register an omnichain domain name on zkSync

ii. Polygon zkEVM

Polygon zkEVM is another promising L2 project.

It’s a zero-knowledge rollup that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

This means that any dApp that is currently running on Ethereum can be ported to Polygon zkEVM with minimal changes.

The Polygon team has said that they’re considering an airdrop for early users of Polygon zkEVM.

To maximize your chances of getting this airdrop, consider adding the Polygon zkEVM network to your wallet.

You can also do these:

• bridge funds to Polygon zkEVM using Orbiter, and
• do some swapping with Quickswap’s Polygon zkEVM deployment

iii. Scroll

Scroll is also a zkEVM-based zkRollup that’s specifically designed for DeFi applications. It offers high throughput, low fees, and EVM compatibility.

Scroll is still in its early stages, but it has the potential to be a major player in the DeFi space.

To get onboard, start by adding the Scroll Alpha testnet to your Web3 wallet.

Then claim Scroll Alpha testnet tokens, lend on Aave, bridge to Scroll with their native Hop-forked bridge, and swap tokens on Uniswap

iv. Base

Base – an L2 project from the Coinbase team built on the open-sourced OP Stack.

It will likely serve as the hub for various Coinbase proprietary dApps and is intended to serve as an onboarding nexus into Web3 for the exchange’s 110M verified users.

As an L2 project, Base will inherit Ethereum’s security while providing users with faster transaction speeds and lower transaction costs.

Coinbase has said that they’re not currently planning an airdrop for Base tokens.

However, if they do decide to do an airdrop in the future, it could be a very valuable one.

To position yourself in case it happens, add Base’s testnet to your wallet and bridge funds between Base and other testnets using Wormhole.

v. Starknet

Starknet is a permissionless decentralized Validity-Rollup (often referred to as a zkRollup).

It operates as an L2 network over Ethereum, enabling any dApp to achieve unlimited scale for its computation.

This goes without compromising Ethereum’s composability and security.

Smart contracts on Ethereum and the majority of L2s are written in Solidity.

But Starknet uses Cairo, a Turing-complete programming language designed for STARK proofs.

The Starknet team has said that they plan to airdrop tokens to early users of the network.

To maximize your chances here, consider doing the following:

• downloading a Starknet-compatible wallet like Argent X
• bridging to Starknet with StarkGate, and
• swapping tokens with JediSwap.
